Stepping aboard OCEAN MOON, our 2003 Selene 48, from the integrated swim platform, you're immediately welcomed into a spacious aft cockpit—an inviting outdoor living area ideal for entertaining, relaxing at anchor, or enjoying a quiet evening overlooking the water. Wide, covered side decks with substantial teak cap rails and sturdy handholds provide safe, easy access to the foredeck, a hallmark of the Selene's offshore pedigree. Navigating the decks in spirited seas is easy with high bulwarks, good traction and plenty of handholds from bow to stern.
Entering the salon through the handcrafted teak Dutch (split) door, you're greeted by the warmth of beautifully finished Burmese teak joinery, teak-and-holly sole, and an abundance of natural light streaming through large windows. To port, a comfortable L-shaped settee surrounds a high-low table for dining or entertaining, while to starboard there is a matching bench and custom cabinetry that create a welcoming atmosphere reminiscent of a fine waterfront home rather than a typical production yacht. Views of the water and surroundings are easy at a seated level.
Just forward lies the well-appointed U-shaped galley, thoughtfully positioned to serve both the salon and pilothouse. Sumptuous Asian teak joinery surrounds the helmsman with large windows and both port and starboard split exit doors to the side decks for smooth docking. Visibility is excellent in all directions. Grab handles surround you for safe movement around the space. An ultra-leather helm bench seats three crew easily. A 6’ long sleeping berth lies behind the bench. Travel through the pilothouse is easy with half stairs up to the flybridge and half stairs down to the galley and salon. A low row of opening storage cabinets and convenient drawer surround the helm. Note all the shelving, storage cubbies, cupholders, and features that make long passages and late night watches a pleasure.
