INTRODUCTION:

The Catalina 387 was designed for comfortable coastal cruising with a spacious cockpit, easy-to-handle sail plan, and spacious 2-cabin living spaces down below.  LIBERTY is a well-equipped example of Catalina’s ability to capture style, function and comfort in a yacht that can handle light day sailing or long-distance cruising with ease.

The Catalina 387 model came into production in 2003, replacing the C380 and C390 models.  With a wider beam (12’4’’) and 39’10’’ overall length, Catalina was able to give you more bang for your buck with a larger cockpit with 9ft. of seating to port and starboard, a spacious main salon and galley area, and a v-berth that has a removable section to starboard that allows you to create an offset walk-around space.  LIBERTY has the centerline aft cabin layout with a spacious centerline queen berth.

COCKPIT:

The cockpit is where you spend 90% of your time on board…it is the most important space on any sailing yacht.  A good cockpit layout needs comfort, convenience, and easy access to all of the yacht’s systems for smooth and safe sailing.  Catalina has mastered the sailing cockpit, especially in the 387 model which stretches the cockpit configuration all the way to 9ft.!  With long cockpit seating and a beamy stern, LIBERTY’s cockpit offers the perfect space for comfortable cruising and entertaining.  The seats are wide and long enough to lay down and relax or to comfortably seat 6 around the folding centerline cockpit table for an evening meal.  Additional stern rail seats offer even more seating.  Everything you need to sail this yacht, single handed or with crew, is right at your fingertips without leaving the cockpit.

The primary winces are easily reachable from the helm and all rigging lines lead aft to the cockpit so that setting the sails can be safely done from the confines of the cockpit during a sailing passage.  The dodger, bimini and connector combo offer great protection from the elements.  The Raymarine electronics package features an E80 plotter right at the helm along with an ST6000+ autopilot system.

Want to open up the space for an afternoon of swimming or hosting cocktail hour at the dock?  Simply put down the swim ladder to open the swim platform pass-through and fold the foldable helm wheel.
